Lactation Support May Be Fully Covered by Your Insurance
Getting the help you need shouldn’t be complicated - or expensive. We partner with several major insurance providers to make expert lactation care more accessible for families. Let’s find out if your visit can be covered!
At The Breastfeeding Center of Orange County, we're here to simplify the process and help you access the care you need.
Aetna & United Healthcare Members:
As an in-network provider with most Aetna PPO & United PPO plans, we are proud to offer the possibility of insurance covered lactation consultations. To verify your benefits, email us using the button below or directly to hello@breastfeedoc.com with your name, date of birth, the primary policy holder’s name and date of birth, and a copy of your insurance card (front and back).
In addition, we partner with Milk Wise to maximize coverage and accessibility to families with Aetna and United insurance plans. To verify your coverage with Milk Wise, please complete the insurance verification form here. Milk Wise typically responds within 24 business hours. If you don't receive a response within this timeframe, contact us at hello@breastfeedoc.com, and we'll assist you.
We recommend all Aetna & United families verify coverage both directly with us via email & with Milk Wise for maximum coverage.
Cigna Members:
We've partnered with Wildflower to provide lactation consultations for families with Cigna PPO, Cigna HMO, and Strategic Alliance insurance. Verify your coverage by completing the form here. If not approved, contact us for cash pay options.
Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Anthem and other insurance plans:
The Breastfeeding Center of Orange County is working together with Milk Wise to get additional coverage for Blue Cross, Blue Shield and Anthem plans. In the meantime, we can occasionally get out-of-network coverage with this plans. To see if you qualify for out-of-network coverage with Milk Wise, complete their insurance verification form HERE.
Other Insurance Providers (Self-Pay Option Available):
If your insurance isn't listed above, you may still have lactation benefits. You can book a consultation with payment due upon booking. After your visit, we'll provide a superbill for you to submit a reimbursement claim to your insurance provider. We recommend contacting your insurance company beforehand to confirm out-of-network coverage. Some families have had success in requesting a gap exemption with their insurance provider to guarantee reimbursement if their insurance plan does not have an option for an in-network IBCLC Lactation Consultant.
Note on Home Visits:
Home visits may incur additional travel fees, even if your consultation is covered by insurance. For specific travel rates to your area, please reach out to us at hello@breastfeedoc.com.
